Turkey Day... Good Company but Otherwise Crappy

Well this is a Thanksgiving for the memory books. We decided to drive to Boise to spend the long weekend with Matt's mom (who drove in from I.F.), brother Michael & sis-in-law Lindsey, and Aunt Vicki & Uncle Dave at Vicki's house.

I'd noticed Carsen wasn't eating as well a few days before and had a little diarrhea one day (I also was feeling a bit ill in the stomach and was praying it wasn't somehow morning sickness but ruled that out). On the drive there, Carsen slept a great majority of the time (4 of 6 hours) and that was a bit out of ordinary, still wouldn't eat, and started getting bad diarrhea. Luckily he slept well at night.

But by Thanksgiving Day, both Matt and I were tired and Carsen seemed a little more on edge, and his diarrhea was worse. At dinner, he wouldn't even try a single bite and was really fussy. Almost as soon as dinner was over, neither Matt nor I felt well and we all ended up sick with a little flu bug. Poor Matt barely made it through lunch the next day with his aunt Lynn & uncle Chuck; we loaded up on nyquil, pedialyte, gatoraide, and pepto bismo and Matt slept almost the whole day, shivering, though covered with five blankets. I felt pretty terrible also but I felt like I should try to hold it together to take care of Carsen and pretend like we were having a decent time. It is not fun being sick as a guest; there's just nothing like the comforts of home, plus not feeling guilty about messing up someone else's bathroom or worrying that they're now worrying about catching whatever the heck we brought.

Let's have a Thanksgiving re-do, eh?

But I am very thankful we had time to spend with Matt's mom and family, and they got to see Carsen so much more active.
