7 months of joy

Wow this is late being posted but gotta get it in before 8 months...

Carsen is growing so fast now!! He got his two bottom teeth, he crawls, he pulls up on anything possible. We really need to baby proof more. We've told him NO a few times to some things, mainly the dogs' water bowl in the kitchen, so now about 70% of the time, he'll crawl toward it obviously fixated on it, then stop, sit, and hold his hands and look to us. It's so cute!

Ohhh Daddy, he can't have sugar yet!

Still loves his bath but now he is super squirmy. He likes to sit up but he'd rather try to climb out of the tub or crawl around and play with the drain. It's a bit stressful for me. Need to get a tub mat.

Matt and Carsen have had a lot of bonding time recently. First I had to go to Eugene for a night for work so it was Matt's first time on his own for a night (even I haven't done that yet!). Apparently he decided to use the Ferber cry it out sleep training while I was gone, and luckily C only cried for about 30 mins. He was pretty close to sleeping through on his own, would just wake up wanting rocked or a sip of a bottle. So now he sleeps usually solidly through the night from 7:30 or 8pm til 5:45-7am depending on who knows what.

Then I had another grand adventure to Las Vegas (or more specifically Henderson) with my girlfriends from high school. I had enough air miles for a free flight and my friend Holly lives in Henderson so we kicked her husband and sons to her in-laws' house and we did a lot of sitting around chatting. We're now all working moms (I was the last) and two are expecting so we talked a lot about babies and men and working... It's interesting to have such long term friends who have known me half my life and seen so many changes I've been through, and phases, or maybe seasons is a better way to describe it. I went through a season of not even knowing if marriage mattered to me, if children were really something I wanted in my life, not just something culture tells me I should want. My friends are amazing women and it was so wonderful to have us all together.

We did go to an awesome spa at M Resort; their pool is beautiful!! My $75 "express" mani/pedi was totally worth it for the free pool time. But without a baby around to remind me, I completely forgot about sunblock so I got a little pink.

And we had some delicious meals and saw La Reve. We minimally walked the strip (Jenn wasn't supposed to walk much because baby #4 was showing signs of maybe being early, and Jenn's first son arrived a month early on a bachelorette trip for Mandy. We threatened Jenn that we'd name her first daughter Deztiney or something similarly Vegas-fabulous if she had her baby).

It was also my brother Joe (and my mom- in-law)'s birthday and he was in Vegas for the weekend with his fiancé, as were our parents, so we all got together for lunch (even though they ordered before I got there cause I was lost in the casino). It was nice to see them, although it was quite brief.

Back at home, Matt took C shooting. Awesome. ;)

Carsen is just starting to really notice and enjoy animals. Previously he just stared at them the same way he'd stare at stuffed animals. Now he tries to interact with them. We went to see my mom's neighbors' new puppies. C was so excited. He squealed! He growled at them!

Our sweet, beautiful, energetic boy! I can't comprehend how in love with him I am. I just want to kiss his sweet checks all the time!!

I almost cried when we realized he's now big enough to sit in the shopping cart by himself.

He's getting ready to play football. One of his fave things is to smoosh his face against his pack'n'play.

Matt is so great with Carsen. I'm so lucky to have two great men!

And we're getting ready for the fall to turn into winter...
